Just drag to extend the clip at the end and it will drag along and it's a pooled item (linked / aliased clip.) From my pic I just did 1 beat at the start off bar 1 and looped it. You can also go to the Insert menu in Reaper and select New midi item to insert an item (clip.) Double click that clip to enter the midi editor and just put a note on the start of every bar to play it when the track plays. In Reaper - Ctrl left mouse click and draw a midi clip straight into the arranger. If you don't and were draw notes into the arranger that trigger the Dr.Octo.Rex, it would be triggering the loop twice and cause phasing issues. There is a button on the Dr.Octo.Rex called Enable Loop Playback It's lit up red (see pic.) Click the red square to turn that off and it won't automatically play when you play Reaper. What is it about DAWs beginning with "Rea."? I feel like I'm missing something obvious. This also happens for Drum Sequencer, and I assume all loop-based instruments and devices. How do I either trigger it selectively from the host DAW or automate it? In standalone Reason, I'd use pattern automation, but I don't see how I'd do that in Reaper. It seems like it's being triggered as soon as playback starts (which to be fair is what Reason would do as well). But when I play the track from Reaper, the Octorex plays its loop all the time - and I only want it to play for a few bars. So I load it from the browser in Reason, all is fine. I want to use a loop from our old friend, the good Doctor Octorex. I'm running Reason 11 Suite as a VST3 in Reaper, which in general is working really well, but using loop-based instruments is making me scratch my head. I'm playing around scoring some video, which means I'm fumbling around using Reaper (for its video support). ![]() I expect there'll be a blindingly obvious answer. I feel sure I should be able to work this out, but it's driving me mad.
